    Save the APK, then enable Install from unknown sources for the app that opens the file — usually your browser or Files. After that, tap Install and follow Android’s prompts.

How to install an APK on Android

Android will not install an APK until you enable Install from unknown sources. That’s required on every phone — Google Play apps skip this step; files you download yourself do not.

  1. Open the listing and download the APK.
  2. Enable Install from unknown sources. On Android 8 and later, go to Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps, pick the app that will open the file (Chrome, Files, or Downloads), and turn Allow from this source on. Older phones have a single Unknown sources toggle under Settings → Security.
  3. Open the APK from your notifications or the Downloads / Files app.
  4. Tap Install, glance at the permissions, and wait for it to finish.
  5. Open the app from your home screen. You can turn unknown sources back off afterward if you’d rather keep that setting tight.

Do I need an account to download APKs?
No. You can search, open a listing, and download without signing up. There’s no member wall in front of the files. If you want to leave a rating on a listing, you can do that from the app page as well — still without an account.
Are APK downloads on ApkRally free?
Yes. Downloading an APK from ApkRally doesn’t cost anything. You won’t hit a paywall to grab the file. The apps and games still belong to their publishers, including names, icons, and trademarks. We’re hosting the files; we don’t claim the software as our own.
Is it safe to download APKs from ApkRally?
Safer than grabbing a random file from a forum, because we curate what appears here. That said, an APK is still a file from the internet, so treat it with the same care you’d give any sideload. Read the listing, check the package name and version, and only install something you actually want. If anything on a page looks off, skip it and use Contact in the footer.
How do I install an APK on my Android phone?
Android devices need Install from unknown sources turned on before an APK will install. Download the file, enable that setting for your browser or Files app, then open the APK from notifications or Downloads and tap Install. Why does Android say the app is from an unknown source?
Your phone shows that warning because the file didn’t come from Google Play. Android requires Install from unknown sources (on newer phones, Install unknown apps) before it will sideload an APK. Allow it for the app that opens the file — your browser or Files — install once, and you can turn that permission back off when you’re done.
Will an APK replace the Google Play version I already have?
It can. If the package name matches an app already on your phone, installing the APK may update or overwrite it. That’s useful when you want a specific version. If you’d rather keep the Play Store copy exactly as it is, don’t install the file — downloading it alone won’t change what’s on your device.
Can I download older versions of an app?
When we have more than one build, older versions sit on the listing under Downloads. Use the latest unless you have a reason not to — an older Android device, a feature that changed, or an update that didn’t work for you. Each row shows the version name so you can pick the one you need.
What if I can’t find an app?
Try search first, then browse Apps and Games by category. If it still isn’t here, it hasn’t been listed yet. We don’t take public uploads on the site, so missing titles simply aren’t in the catalog. Check back later, or use Contact if you’re asking about a specific listing.
How do I report a listing or request a takedown?
For a general problem with a page, use Contact in the footer and include the app name or URL. If you’re reporting copyright infringement, go through the DMCA page instead — that’s the right channel for those requests, and it helps us act on the right file.
